Kevin is out. The Dodgers are done for another season. Maybe they should re-hire Tommy
LOS ANGELES (TICKER) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers' playoff hopes took a major hit Sunday when the team learned that ace righthander Kevin Brown will undergo season-ending surgery on his pitching elbow this week.
Team physician Dr. Frank Jobe, an arm specialist, will repair the torn flexor muscle in Brown's elbow on Thursday.
"We don't want to take a chance on losing this man for the 2002 season," Dodgers manager Jim Tracy said. "We would be putting him at risk if we threw him anymore. Some of the flexor muscles have pulled away from the bone and it did get worse yesterday. Now is the time to stop."
